CREDA Activities: Update for the month of June 2025

🗓️ June 6 – Participating in the 1st FRED-HUB Congress

Chema Gil participated in the first edition of the FRED-HUB Congress, a collaboration space to promote sustainable solutions in refrigeration, food safety and energy efficiency.

Representing CREDA, he shared knowledge to reduce or avoid the generation of food waste.

🗓️ June 13 (1) – Let’s talk about the WEFE nexus

Paolo Gnutti attended the 2025 AESI Annual Meeting, a conference that brought together all kinds of personalities interested in agricultural economics, the environment and rural development.

He presented the CREDA study on the key financing factors of the WEFE nexus, a work framed in the European project SURENEXUS.

🗓️ June 13 (2) – Sharing the results of the bioeconomy in Catalonia

Within the framework of the XV Jornadas de Estadística Pública and the XLI Congreso Nacional de Estadística e Investigación Operativa, Marian Romero and Martín Federico Alba presented the situation and conclusions of the bioeconomy sector in Catalonia, a study that includes output and input-output methodologies.

The session brought together academic staff, public administration and the business sector, to share the results of the SEIO.

🗓️ June 16 – Launch of the GI SMART Multi-Stakeholder Platform

Chema Gil and Omar Guadarrama attended the launch meeting of the Spanish Multi-Actor Platform (MAP) of the GI SMART project.

The platform is aimed at research personnel, producers and regulatory councils of PDOs or PGIs, and the objective is to build a shared space for the exchange of ideas, debate and analysis around the Geographical Indications of the territory.

🗓️ June 18 – Final meeting of NOVATERRA

After five years of work, the partners of the European project NOVATERRA met to present the results of the different work packages, highlighting several alternatives to conventional plant protection products.

Noah Larvoe and Zein Kallas shared the role of CREDA, in relation to the assessment of the economic and social impact of proposals to reduce the use of pesticides.

🗓️ June 20 – EAERE 2025 Congress in Bergen

Chema Gil is participating in the EAERE 2025 Congress in Bergen, where he moderated the thematic session on stakeholder decisions and cost-benefit analysis.

During the session, three examples of the use of this analysis were presented, focusing on methodological issues applied to specific case studies and on co-construction between stakeholders.

🗓️ June 26 – Participating in the Social and Solidarity Economy Week in Mataró

Chema Gil participated in the inaugural event of the Mataró Social and Solidarity Economy Week, a day that revolved around food waste and the possible solutions that agents can provide.

🗓️ June 27 – Progress in the GI SMART project

Omar Guadarrama attended the launch of the Multi-Actor Platform (MAP) of the GI SMART project in Brussels.

This initiative aims to connect stakeholders committed to the sustainability of Geographical Indications, to allow producer and agricultural personnel to share experiences, challenges and opportunities within the framework of GIs.
