September 25, 2025

The Centre de Recerca en Economia i Desenvolupament Agroalimentari (CREDA), together with the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) and the European Association of Environmental Resource Economists (EAERE), organizes the 193rd EAAE Seminar which will take place at the Baix Llobregat Campus of the UPC on December 3 and 4.

Entitled ‘Valuation Methods in Agro-food and Environmental Economics. What’s next?’, the event will host more than 50 experts in agri-food and environmental economics, with the aim of consolidating a forum where scientific staff dealing with valuation methods can meet periodically to discuss empirical and methodological issues.

Thus, during the two days of presentations and exhibitions, topics related to valuation methods and the agri-food sector will be discussed: (1) consumer and consumer behaviour; (2) environmental economics and natural resources; (3) agricultural, food and environmental policies; or (4) modelling tools.

The 193rd EAAE Seminar will also feature two plenary sessions led by Salvatore Di Falco, Professor of Economics at the University of Geneva (Switzerland), and Stephane Hess, Professor of Choice Modelling at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom).

Di Falco’s work explores how natural resources contribute to agricultural productivity, food security and resilience to weather shocks in arid regions. On the other hand, Hess’ research focuses on human choice behaviour in relation to areas such as transportation, health and the environment.

How to participate?

To participate in the workshop, it is essential to be a member of the EAAE or EAERE. In addition, interested parties must submit, before September 30, a work proposal of a maximum of two pages that includes the motivation, the methodological framework and an outline of the main results.

On the other hand, registrations will open on October 6th for all those who wish to attend the 193rd EAAE Seminar, have presented a paper or wish to participate as listeners. These people will be able to formalize their registration through the official website of the event (https://www.creda.es/workshops/), where all the relevant information is also updated: program, participants and map of the venue.

Organizing entities

CREDA is a research foundation created in 2005, with the support of two entities: the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA). It was created with the intention of establishing, within the scientific community, a Catalan public body that would study and analyse agricultural economics and rural development.

The EAAE connects economists and agricultural professionals who are dedicated to addressing the challenges of the agri-food system and rural development with a particular focus on the European context, with the aim of sharing knowledge and ideas that can shape the future of the agricultural economy across Europe.

Founded in 1990, the EAERE is an international scientific association that aims to contribute to the development and application of environmental, climate and resource economics and to develop cooperation between universities, research institutions and policymakers, with the aim of establishing a more sustainable framework for the future of the sector.
