During the 13th Cava Table, chaired by the Minister of Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació, Òscar Ordeig, the study on the costs of grape production and the elaboration of the base wine cava for the year 2025 was presented.
This study was commissioned by INCAVI to CREDA, which has worked together with the Federació de Cooperatives Agràries de Catalunya (FCAC) and the Associació d’Elaboradors de Cava (AECAVA), with the aim of determining approximate reference costs taking into account the production of each farm and the expenses inherent to the characteristics of each wine-growing season.
According to Ordeig, “this study helps to have objective and verified data that serve as a starting point to try to make the entire value chain generate progress“. Thus, the Department aims to ensure that the quality and added value of products such as cava is reflected “throughout the entire value chain, including the farmer“.
At the time of writing the study, an increase in yield of around 20% compared to last year’s estimate was forecast. Thus, depending on the grape variety, the production cost is: 0,53 €/kg for Macabeu, 0,58 €/kg for Xarel·lo, and 0,49 €/kg for Parellada.
